The mission of the Housatonic Council is to make the Housatonic Valley Region a better place in which to live, do business and visit through coordinated planning and cooperative approaches. The HVCEO was founded in 1968, its creation authorized by state statute. HVCEO has the responsibility under federal law to administer a transportation planning program, provides a continuing forum on municipal management and planning, and is the census data census for the area. The HVCEO office is located in Brookfield, CT in the Old Brookfield Town Hall building, shown right, at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133. officials in the area, two mayors and eight first selectman. They
meet monthly except during the summer months to supervise regional
planning efforts, conduct workshops, and exchange information to
improve municipal management. Some meetings are dedicated to dialogues
with state legislators, state agency staff, utility companies and

Similar regional councils are operating in the other 14 planning regions in Connecticut. Access to research reports relating to community planning and governmental topics is available to local officials and the public.
