VALLEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP (HVEDP),
a companion agency to HVCEO and housed in the same building, provides
resources for business development, economic policy leadership, communication
and technical services.
Of
Special Planning Interest: HVEDP offers evening training at minimal
cost for land use commission members and interested public.
The
HOUSATONIC
RESOURCES RECOVERY AUTHORITY (HRRA)
a companion agency to HVCEO and housed in the same building, has served
the area since 1986 with management of recycling and solid waste disposal.
The
HOUSATONIC
AREA REGIONAL TRANSIT DISTRICT
(HART) the public transit provider
to the Region, has information on the many bus services available
to the general public, the elderly, and disabled persons.
The
HOUSATONIC
VALLEY TOURISM COMMISSION (HVTC)
provides information about tourism, recreation, and cultural activities.

The
planning of the CT
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(Conn DOT) is coordinated with the planning of the HVCEO. Proceed to

The
statewide growth guide produced by the CT
OFFICE OF POLICY AND MANAGEMENT
(CT OPM) is coordinated with the HVCEO Growth
Guide Map. The state plan is
entitled the Conservation
and Development Policies Plan for Connecticut.
The
HVCEO is part of Connecticut's statewide system of 15 regions dating
from 1947. The other fourteen REGIONAL
PLANNING ORGANIZATIONS can be
found at this CT OPM Site. All fifteen organizations are coordinated
by their major financial sponsors CT OPM and Conn DOT.
The
CT
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
is also an important resource in matters of community and regional planning.
The
CT
ECONOMIC INFORMATION SYSTEM is
a database of current municipal demographic and economic information.
Included are statistics about educational systems and local finances.
The site is maintained by the Connecticut
Department of Economic and Community Development.

MAP AND GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION CENTER ("MAGIC")
SITE AT THE UNIV. OF CT offers
free downloads (for those with geographic information system software)
of high quality local maps for governmental and business planning or
your personal use. Historic maps of Connecticut are available without
specialized software.
